"Changing Education Paradigms"
This video is an RSA Animate and was adapted from a talk given at the RSA by Sir Ken Robinson, world-renowned education and creativity expert and recipient of the RSA's Benjamin Franklin award. It discusses problems in education such as the structure of our current classroom setting that relies on a traditional model originally created for earlier generation/age that no longer works for students, rising numbers in ADHD, benefits of aesthetic learning, etc. The video suggests a more divergent way of thinking that allows students the opportunity increase their capacity for creativity and learning. |

"Summer Learning"
This video from Horizons National models the effects of summer vacation on both a low-income and middle-income child to show how months away from school can have significant negative impacts on students of lower-income status. Lower-income students are typically those who do NOT receive educational opportunities or additional practice of material learned throughout the school year during those months away from school, only furthering the gap between students over the course of their years in school. |
