What's working at Henry Clay High School?
Equity in Advanced Placement (EAP)
|
The Equity in Advanced Placement program (EAP) at Henry Clay High School is a mentor/mentee program designed to attract underrepresented students to Advanced Placement classes and to help these students succeed once they make the leap to more
challenging classes. Potential students are nominated by their freshman teachers based on many factors, including their academic ability, maturity, behavior, work ethic, academic abilities, and desire to succeed. The program provides each freshman mentee with an upperclassman who will tutor them, introduce them to AP teachers, and arrange for them to sit in on AP classes during their freshman year. The mentors do everything they can to help the mentees negotiate high school. Mentees become the mentors their senior year and continue the process. If you have any questions about the program, contact Chris Snow at [email protected].
